Phase 5: "Little Gaines (Stage 2)
Completing work on the south-west wing, affectionately known as “Little Gaines”. This will create ensuite accommodation suitable for teachers and leaders, as well as a flexible living space for interns.
Our bunk-house dorms are ideal for teenagers who actually prefer the communal 'sleepover' experience, but we lack ensuite facilities of the quality demanded by school teachers and adult leaders.
As our team grows, we will also need to make more cost-efficient use of the staff housing on site. This will mean creating some flexible student-style accommodation units that can be used by our interns as well as by group leaders and volunteers on larger camps.
The good news is that we don't need a new building or even a new extension. "Little Gaines", the contiguous west wing of the manor, is ready and waiting for us! Currently decommissioned, it will need a major refit. That's something we intend to do in stages:
Having fitted new services to the entire wing in Stage 1, and having completed work on the en-suite units on the first floor, we now tackle the top floor. Our plan calls for flexible student-style accommodation: private or semi-private bedrooms around a communal living space. Perfect for for our live-in interns, but also easily out to use when additional space is needed for any adult guests
