5weeks in and it still feels like I’ve been at Gaines no time at all, yet forever! All at the same time! How did I get to week 5 of my Gap year without even blinking? I arrived at Gaines on Sunday 11th September and since then we’ve hosted 3 groups, had 1 birthday and lots of Jesus!
Our first group was from a church called Woodlands. Sally (doing the Gap year alongside me) and I led small groups on Proverbs. It was so exciting to see how the teachings written in the Bible all those years ago could still relate to teenage girls today. It was so good to grow in our knowledge of God together and to help them understand more about what it means to be a Christian.
Since then I’ve been growing and learning more and more each day and it’s so very exciting! Studying the bible with Ben and Jess has opened up so many new and awesome things about our God that I was unaware of before. Even this morning I read about David, Abigail and Nabal in Samuel chapter 25; a story I’ve never even read before!
Each day is packed with bible study, prayer and discussion. The Midlands Ministry Training Course (MMTC) on Thursdays is overwhelmingly full of things I didn’t know about God. If you ever think you know enough about Jesus, come to one week of MMTC and you’ll be put in your place! There’s so much we don’t know and I’m so excited to continue to develop and live in my ever-growing knowledge of the bible and the good news it contains.
